I very much enjoyed my visit to Angeles for the last two weekends – where I attended CatalystCon for the weekend of May 3rd to 6th – then attended DomCon LA http://www.domconla.com/ for the weekend of May 10th to 13th. In between I spent time in the Palm Springs area catching up with friends and slaves…
For the first weekend, at CatalystCon I was on a panel, with some lovely other providers, including my good friend and colleague Alisia Sophia, which had the following session title:
"The Negative of Sex Positive: Shame, stigma and sex work acceptance in our community” http://catalystcon.com/sessions/
Alisa Sophia, Ms Emilie Oxford, Hercules Liotard, and Melissa Joy Maven.
I think the panel went well. My fellow panelists managed to combine articulate answers with personal context – which I thought made the panel so much more real. And there were lots of interesting questions from the floor and/or afterwards. But I was struck by the fact that the audience was very much people in the erotic service provider business – as if the plain old sex positive people decided to go to a different panel. And strangely enough… For an allegedly sex-positive crowd, there didn’t seem to be much action going on – although perhaps that was going on back in people’s rooms...?
For the second weekend I was a Special Guest at DomCon LA – which was my fifth time as a Special Guest. As before, I had a cute slave carrying my bag – which is always wonderful. And I loved meeting colleagues – other Mistresses and Dommes – some of whom I know from previous DomCons, and some of whom are connections via slaves or sissies in common. But again… There was a lot of standing around looking fabulous – but not much BDSM. Even at the Friday and Saturday night parties, it was soooo crowded, that there wasn’t really much opportunity to play. O well…
So… I was travelling for 10 or 11 days. And I had a lot of fun! But now I am in serious catch-up mode – with all the administration that didn’t get done while I was away – and with all the slaves and sissies who pined for me while I was away…
