Being kinky in San Francisco, one of the high points of the year is Folsom. But in reality, as it has become larger and larger, it has become more and more “vanilla” – to the point where I haven’t been for a few years…

I did go to Folsom two years ago, where I had an intense and interesting time over two or three days with an ever shifting bunch of friends and slaves. But that had its issues and/or limitations – mainly because it was sooo crowded and it was sooo hard to find or be authentically kinky.

This year… I went to Folsom again. But this time, I was volunteering for a sex worker activist organization (see esplerp.org). It may not be immediately obvious, but Folsom (the main Fair, Up Your Alley, and the Parties) are almost entirely staffed by volunteers – even the Folsom Board and coordinators are almost all volunteers – and the almost 500 volunteers from a whole range of organizations are who actually make the event(s) happen.

So on the day… I checked in at the volunteer checkin and was directed to a secure location, where I then spent seven hours counting money. My shift was initially only for four hours, but so much money was coming in (!) that I was asked to stay on to 7pm – which of course I did. But, while I had packed a change of fetish clothing, planning to cruise the Fair after my shift, by 7pm the Fair was closed.

But never fear… There was an after party at the Power Exchange… So I roused myself, changed into a corset, stockings and boots… and headed off to the after party – which seemed to have collected all the horny people from Folsom? So many kewties! So many kewt submissive “gurls” keen to interact with a dominant mistress. So a great deal of fun was had by all – in any event, certainly by me.

But… On balance… I may be done with Folsom… Next year, I will probably go to Up Your Alley but not the main Folsom Fair – unless I am volunteering again. Up Your Alley (which is the last Sunday in July) is way smaller, but also feels more local and authentic and local – far fewer “tourists” and far more boys in jack-off circles (not really my taste but…).

Perhaps I’ll see some of you at Up Your Alley in 2018…?
