Regular readers of my blog will remember that each July I take a partial break and head off to a “lifestyle” “bi swingers” party. In previous years it has been in Las Vegas at a small “gay” “clothing optional” resort hotel – and in effect it was a takeover, where the “bi swingers” took over the whole resort for the weekend.

But unfortunately the Las Vegas hotel closed (for whatever reason) and this year the event is at a small “gay” “clothing optional” resort hotel in Palm Springs. Sounds familiar?

I travel tomorrow (the 23rd) and I am at the event until Sunday evening – but then will be staying around until Tuesday 28th, hanging out with friends in Palm Springs and SoCal.

Many of the people are veterans of the “lifestyle” and of the event – and they are really lovely, warm and open people. But they also love to party…! And in recent years, there has been an afternoon “BDSM workshop” in one of the suites where I could get dressed up in my finery and show off my skills! Although that did raise challenges with minimalist packing for 100F pool wear?!

And then there are some interesting situations when the regular gay clientele come in on day passes at the weekend – and run in to a bunch of naked people (including women!) at reception. In some cases I have seen them just turn round and leave – presumably to come back the next weekend when things return to “normal”.

I am conscious of how language can be somewhat complex around all of this. For example am I “lifestyle” or a “swinger” or “poly”? Am I “straight”, “lesbian” or “bi” or…? The language fails us in situations like these. But in the end, I don’t really care. I am having sexy fun with lovely people. What could be better.

But then I have a few sessions booked in parallel with the event – which is a wonderful opportunity for people in Palm Springs to see me where they usually wouldn’t be able to. So on a couple of evenings I will be taking a taxi across town (Palm Springs is pretty small) to a hotel to see a client for a session – in one case to be preceded by a meal at a rather nice restaurant.

How interesting… To leave the poolside, where things are so open and sexual and free, and then to arrive at a hotel room for a session (where most clients are very keen on “discretion” – and I am practiced at that). Then back to the poolside for (hopefully) a nightcap. Perhaps it is the “best of both worlds”….?
